He had nothing to live up to, cause his daddy was just an old beatning drunk. "Baby you can live of nothing if you don't have anything" said the dreamer of dreams drinking all of his money away.
And God knows he was a wise man so aware of his imperfections he sang "Honey, I'm doing everything that I can. I'm doing everything that I can do do do do..."

She grew up as the black sheep. A beautiful daughter of a town priest but with an urge to get out of there she'd follow the man who said "baby, you know we can go anywhere".
And God knows she was a tough one, but she had to leave him with a screeming kid on her hand, she said "honey I'm doing all that I can. I'm doing everything I can do do do..."

So here I am now I'm in a strange land, with the feeling there's more to life I'm not quite catching and my inherited urge to get out of here does so I never feel home anywhere. And God knows, he knows I wanna save the world but, being just a dreamer of dreams all I can do is say "well, I'll do what I can. I'll do anything I can do do do..."
